We're just crazy like that...
The wallpaper was quite beautiful. And artistically installed upside-down.
But a prego must do what a prego must do.
Surprise! A second layer of amazing wallpaper! If only it were possible to strip just the first layer :(
Stripping it at all was quite a chore. It took MT a day and a half!
DONE and primed! Steve was confused.
Check out that FINE fatty taking the hardware off all the cabinetry. Yep, she's got power tools.
Sink and counters are gone, but the skeleton is sanded, primed and painted!
Cabinets too. As well as some of the rocks lining our driveway... oops.
Oh why not? Let's tear down a wall. It's not like we could have a baby tomorrow or anything...
Stay tuned for the next installment of our KITCHEN REMODEL! It may or may not include pictures of our baby.

All I have to say is, this is taking the nesting instinct over the top! Couldn't you have just cleaned out a closet or a few drawers? Baby Gee will adapt even if she comes home to this. Although if she takes after her Dad, she may have a few opinions of her own. I can't wait to meet my next grandchild. xox
An after thought: I am assuming her room and your room are being protected from construction dust. Otherwise she will come home to Gammy's house :)
Don't worry Gammy. The whole house has been protected. Mike is very anal about keeping the plastic barrier closed with the fan sucking everything out the kitchen door. And GT's bedroom door is shut at all times :)
Neato Hailey! the kitchen is way cool!
Baby tomorrow?, the next day? yikes. I hope you have a kitchen before GeeTee arrives. I love her name. Reminds me of a car. ha ha
I knew this would all be taken care of because I know my son-in-law, gotta love him.
Yay! I finally figured out how to leave comments.
So...I just have to say "I heart this." I love that a few weeks before GT is due, you suggested this ambitious project. And I love that Mike is making it happen for you! Now that IS commitment.
And I can't wait to meet this baby...and her chubby cheeks! :)
Hey Haid...What an ambitious project! It's amazing what a mommy and daddy-to-be can do. Maybe the taper could show up and help a bit? He'd love to, you know. But all signs point to little GT arriving before we do. It's all so exciting!! xoxo
OMG!!!! Good luck, seriously let us know if you want to come over for dinner some time :) Can't wait to see the finished product :)
Thanks everyone! I need to add (after reading Kelly's comment) that when I suggested this project 3 weeks ago - I suggested we strip the wallpaper, and give everything a fresh coat of paint. Next thing I know, my architect husband drew up plans for a complete renovation. As Mom said, I guess we gotta love him :) And I'm sure I will a LOT more once this kitchen is done!!
Man, way to live dangerously! You know that's why I love you so.
I can't believe you didn't try to leave the second layer of wallpaper. GROOOOVY!
Keep us updated! I'm looking forward to seeing the progress!
You are amazing! Oh my gosh. I actually like the wallpaper you found underneath. I cannot believe that you have a little over 3 weeks left. My how time flies.
Good luck on the kitchen.
Whoa! You guys are crazy!! But we already knew that :o) The kitchen is going to look amazing!! I love the white cabinets. What a great kitchen makeover. Good thing Mike has some time on his hands, he's going to have to get working fast!! hope its all done before the baby comes. I want to see the progress!! Now I'll be stalking your blog.
You guys are "actually" sanding all cabinets and counters???? I didn't even know you could do that.
I wish we could give you a hand, it really stresses me out just to see the pictures. Please show us the end product pronto! And the other "product" too!!!! (the product of love that is) ;)
